I hope this is the right community to post this. Today I just found out that my husband and I will be stationed at Fort Drum in about six months, and I am very interested in joining the local Lolita community. We will most likely be living in Watertown as my husband doesn't want to live on base, and I was wondering if there is a decent community in that area.

I don't know ANY Watertown Lolitas. There is a TINY contingent of us in Syracuse/Oswego. :) There may be more.

Welcome to Upstate NY!

Thank you for the welcome. It's kind of a bummer to hear of the lack of the Lolis in the area. How far is Syracuse/Oswego from Watertown and/or Fort Drum?

Syracuse is like 1.5 hours from Ft. Drum. We get soldiers down here ALL the time spending their money at Carousel Center and elsewhere. :)

You'll be down here a lot I recon. I know some adult Lolis (20+) who would love to hang, do tea at Roji or some other awesome place, or explore the SU Hill/Armory Square (AND OTHER stuff!). (http://rojitealounge.com) I hostessed ILD on 12/3 there and it looks like everyone had fun. I had fun even though it was a very busy day!

There are some exceptionally awesome younger (in HS) girls as well. Two are almost to Uni, IN NYC! (School of Visual Arts and Pratt are on their "already in" lists. I am SO SO SO proud of them.)

Ok, that's certainly an attainable distance. I've been in the SCA for a while so driving an hour or two to go to an event is pretty normal for me. Honestly I'm REALLY glad that there are Lolis in the general area as the community provides a nice vehicle to meet people through. Also, is there a facebook group or does everything operate off the comm here?

Here's the FB group that Zero Serenity started.

Not much going on there.

Here is the LJ group for Syracuse Lolitas (I think we should do planning there, since FB has security settings that change CONSTANTLY!)

And if you have any questions, please feel free to message me! (And add me to FB! I'll keep you in the loop when meet ups ARE planned. I need to get lots done before planning another meet up (grad school application anyone? Blech... frills first and INTERNET FOREVER! ;)

Here is my FB link:

If nothing else, you can come out with me and Colleen for a bit if there isn't an official meet. Mo frills, mo bettah! ;)
